Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to questions commonly asked at Magnolia House.

Q: Can I claim a refund from Medicare for my consultation with a Psychologist or Occupational Therapist at Magnolia House?

A: Yes, you can.

Q: So, if I just take my invoice to Medicare will they pay my account?

A: No. This is how it works. First, you must have a consultation with your GP. If they decide to refer you to a Psychologist or Occupational Therapist at Magnolia House, they will complete a referral and registered Mental Health Care Plan (Item No: 2710). It is your GP who makes this decision. The referral and registered Mental Health Care Plan are sent to Magnolia House or the doctor may give a copy to you to bring to your appointment.

Q: How much does this cost me?

A: At Magnolia House we charge the following fees:

* Psychology fees - $150 - $160 - 50 minutes session
* Occupational Therapist fees - $140.00 - 50 minutes session
* Clinical Psychology fees - $170.00 - 50 minutes session.

These fees are paid at the time of consultation at Magnolia House. A receipt is issued and can either be taken to Medicare directly or our reception staff can directly claim your rebate for you. This will require your Medicare card and an EFTPOS (not Credit) card. (The rebate will usually go back into your nominated account within 24 hours, however this is at the discretion of Medicare, and any problems should be dealt with at Medicare). Sorry, we do not bulk bill.

The refunds are:

* Psychologist - $84.80 per 50 minutes session (Gap you pay - $65.20 or $75.20)
* Occupational Therapist - $74.80 per 50 minutes session (Gap you pay - $65.20)
* Clinical Psychologist - $124.50 per 50 minutes session (Gap you pay - $45.50)

Q: How many sessions am I entitled to?

A: Your GP will refer you initially for six sessions. After these sessions the practitioner will write a report for your doctor. Your GP may then decide to refer you for further sessions. This is again, at the discretion of your GP.

Q: Can I get an appointment immediately?

A: Most of our practitioners have waiting times. Our reception staff will do their best to give you the earliest appointment available. We appreciate this can be frustrating and value your patience.

Q: Can I see any practitioner at Magnolia House?

A: Yes, the Medicare scheme does apply to all practitioners at Magnolia House.

Please phone our reception staff Julie or Melinda on 46 393 367 who will be happy to make an appointment for you or answer any other queries you may have.
