Fees and Rebates

Additional Information:

• A non-refundable $60 booking fee applies to your first appointment to cover cancellations. This fee will be deducted from your initial consultation fee.
• Fees for each assessment may vary, with the cost calculated based on the hours required to complete the assessment and reporting.
• Concession or bulk-billed appointments are available for health care or pension card holders with a valid Mental Health Care Plan.
• DVA referrals are accepted at no out-of-pocket expense.
• NDIS participants will be charged according to the NDIS fee schedule.
  

Cancellations:

• Full Fee - $120 (GST included).
• Provisional Psychologist and Private Social Worker - $60 (GST included).
  

Appointments are a time reserved especially for you

At Magnolia House Psychology and Therapies Centre, we support you with a clear cancellation and 'Did Not Attend' (DNA) policy to ensure we make the most of the valuable time we have. We recognise that cancellation/DNA policies can be unpleasant, and honestly, we would prefer not to have to enforce them. However, we must ensure that we can provide a service to all our clients and remain viable in continuing to support you.

Why we have a cancellation policy

Consultation time is the foundation of our practice, and late cancellations mean that another client may miss out on the opportunity to receive support. Additionally, a psychologist may waste preparation time, experience schedule disruptions, and lose income. Unlike brief medical appointments, a 50-minute session is a significant block of time and difficult to refill at short notice.

Our commitment to you

We are committed to making sure you are informed of our cancellation/DNA policy in the following ways:

• When you make the initial booking.
• In your booking confirmation email.
• In your reminder SMS, sent 2 days before your scheduled appointment.
• On our website.
• As displayed in the clinic.

We are always happy to provide you with a list of your scheduled appointments - just ask one of our friendly admin team members. While we make an effort to help you stay aware of your appointment times, it is your responsibility to remember and attend your scheduled appointments.

Cancellation and no-show policy

Our cancellation policy is similar to that of many other industries. For example, when you book a seat on a plane, you are required to pay whether or not you show up at the airport. Late cancellations, rescheduling, or failure to attend an appointment result in a loss for three parties: you, the other client waiting to see a clinician, and the clinician themselves.

Cancellation fees

If you cancel within one full business day (less than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment), a cancellation fee will be applied at the rate assigned to the clinician you are seeing. If you cancel more than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment, no cancellation fee will be incurred.

Please note: Medicare, private health insurance, and third-party providers do not offer refunds for cancellation fees.

What you can do if you can't make your appointment

We understand that unforeseen circumstances can occasionally prevent you from attending your scheduled appointment. However, as a professional practice, we must adhere to our cancellation policy to maintain our services. Please do not ask our reception staff to be responsible for your unforeseen circumstances.

• The cancellation fee is payable at the time of cancellation.
• We appreciate your understanding, courtesy, politeness, and respect as we follow these guidelines.

If you have any concerns, please discuss your circumstances with us.

Alternatives to cancellation

If you are unable to attend in person, please consider attending the session via an online or phone consultation. This may be an option if a last-minute conflict arises.

How to cancel

You can cancel an appointment by:

• Emailing reception@magnoliahousepsych.com.au.
• Responding to the SMS reminder.
• Calling the clinic at (07) 4639 3367.

Medicare Rebates:

• Eligibility - see your GP for an assessment to determine if psychological services are needed. If necessary, your GP can place you under a Mental Health Care Plan.
• Key benefits - 10 sessions per calendar year with a Medicare rebate for psychological services. Medicare covers a portion of the session costs.
  
• Out-of-pocket costs - you must pay any amount above the Medicare rebate (the "gap"). Out-of-pocket costs count towards the Medicare Safety Net, which helps reduce excessive expenses for high users of health services.

Private Health Insurance Rebates:

• Private health insurance rebate - you may be eligible for a rebate on consultations with private health insurance. Coverage and policies vary by insurance fund.
• Consultation item numbers - item 100: initial consultation and item 200: subsequent consultation.
• Eligibility - check with your health fund to confirm your entitlements and rebate eligibility.
• Rebate amount - varies based on your insurance fund and policy.
